Due to a lack of oversight and procedure the historic burial site along Highway 23 was destroyed, disturbing our relatives during a highway renovation. This heartbreaking and very emotional moment in our community was an opportunity for us to do better and make sure this never happens again. The disturbed cemetery along Highway 23 in Northern Minnesota continues to be restored and preserved led by the work of the Fond du Lac Band. Landscape architects Urban Ecosystems worked with Heart Berry to create a stone marker for the retaining wall marking permanently this site and preventing further disturbance of our relatives. Ojibwe people, like Indigenous People across the world, have extensive knowledge of the skies, stars, and use this knowledge...
We have an opportunity every day to use our art, our words, and our actions to share authentic narratives. We are so proud to share our TIFO banner created with the MNWonderwall as part of the MN UFC Allianz Native American Heritage Night. The MNWonderwall and MN United are embracing Native Heritage Night with their partners at Mille Lacs and this year we got to Zaasaakwe for these amazing folks dancing and singing on the field. We want to always be pushing the boundaries. Our We are on Native Land TIFO from 2023 spurred conversations, raised funds, and won awards! Where to go from there? At Heart Berry we are known for our Ojibwe florals, sharing about food, medicines, and...

Working from the Heart, Binding together Ojibwe Art with Community Organizing, a new pathway for Entrepeneurship Reporting to you live from Native land today. As a small Native owned business, Heart Berry is also one of the fastest growing in the Midwest. But as a Native artist and CEO, I want to grow down and out, not only up. Alongside our collaborative partner Eighth Generation we have been able to build our reach and grow from pencil drawing and custom regalia to teaching, creating art installations, and donating thousands of dollars a year to local organizations. As Native people we often get told we are in two worlds. As an Anishinaabekwe I reject this idea. It pulls me in two...
